Feedback Strategies

Be a Mirror:
This article talks about focusing on what is there and not focusing on what is missing. It goes with the idea that a mirror can only see what is there. I am not sure I totally agree with this because sometimes offering an idea that is not there could be very beneficial.
The article also talks about taking yourself out of the feedback and focusing on the writer. I actually do agree with this one because it is not your story. Focus on the person who is writing it and what they are doing. It will make it feel more personal and that you do want to help versus what you would do differently.

The Trouble with "Amazing": Giving Praise that Matters:
Amazing does not really motivate people to do better. Amazing does not give specific feedback for improvement or changes. Amazing focuses on the person and not necessarily the effort. The word "amazing" can make people feel good about themselves but it does not offer any improvements. It installs more of a fixed mindset rather than a growth mindset.
I think this article was very true and I loved the analogies she used when describing things.
Feedback needs to offer ways to improves and not just praise.
